When meeting with a notary in Washington State, it’s essential to bring the following items:
- The Document to be Notarized:
- Bring the original, unsigned document that needs to be notarized. Notaries are not allowed to notarize copies of documents; it must be the original document.
- Personal Identification:
- Bring a valid form of government-issued photo identification. Acceptable forms include a driver’s license, state ID, passport, or military ID. The ID should be current and unexpired.
- Know the Document Type:
- Be familiar with the type of notarial act needed for your document. Different documents may require different notarial acts, such as acknowledgments or jurats.
- Witnesses (if required):
- If your document requires witnesses, ensure that they are present with valid identification.
- Fee Payment:
- Be prepared to pay the notary fee. Notaries in Washington can charge a fee for their services, and it’s advisable to confirm the fee in advance.
- Be Present in Person(even when you do remote or electronic notarization):
- You, as the signer, must be physically present at the notarization. Notaries cannot notarize documents for individuals who are not present.

After selecting your service type, preferred date, and available time slot, you can secure your appointment by making a $15 deposit. This deposit will be deducted from the final invoice of your chosen service.
